Load Clear v1.2 Delayed… Indefinitely?

I had a great time (plus plenty of terrible frustrating times) writing this game in the “Swift” programming language!

Swift is… a work in progress.  When Apple pushed Xcode 8 and Swift 3, my project became unusable.  It would take me longer to fix compatibility problems than it would to start from scratch, so v1.2 with In-App-Purchases and Leaderboards (which I had finished writing and begun testing) won’t be published anytime soon.

Maybe next time I deploy, I can burn all my evenings for a month to re-create the game in the newest version of Xcode and Swift.  Until then, I hope you enjoy v1.1, and apologize that you’re stuck with a thirty minute cool down and no option to purchase!

Load Clear v1.2 Delayed… Indefinitely?

Version 1.1 of “LOAD CLEAR” submitted

I had planned for my next release to be version 2.0, featuring IAPs, sound effects, music, and a Leaderboard.

However, I got a ton of feedback in the first couple days after release, and figured a lot of it was EASY to implement.  Voila, version 1.1 – it should be going live in a couple days.  Look for the following changes:

  • Increased initial time, but decreased bonus time
  • Each aircraft available for single use without purchase
  • Increased bonus multiplier for using Tilt Control
  • Decreased Tilt Control acceleration by 1/2
  • Added buffet approaching stall/overspeed
  • Increased rate of turn by 1/3
  • Randomized spacing of clock bonuses
  • Bug fix: difficulty now resets for each sortie
  • Bug fix: prevented launch while viewing tutorial

Those first two changes should ensure that everyone has enough time to “get the hang of things.”  My users were otherwise fumbling around for one minute and then having to wait thirty minutes to try again… not a great first impression.  Now, you’ve got two minutes, and you can try four times before you have to deal with the thirty minute cool down timer.

I made a game! “Load Clear” for iOS

Howdy!  I hope you’re enjoying my iOS game ‘Load Clear’ – it took me just about a year’s worth of evenings and weekends (including a 6 month deployment) to complete, and is my first adventure in software development since completing my BS in Computer Science at Clemson in 2006.

If you haven’t checked it out yet, take a peek at the screenshots below and head over to the App Store – I’d love to get your feedback!  If you want to contribute to the project (I’m not in any position to pay right now, we’ll have to see if I bring in any money from the in-game advertisements) shoot me an email at rollingetic@gmail.com
